UniProtKB description: Effector protein that targets and inactivates the eukaryotic molecular chaperone HSP90 during infection (PubMed:31522888). HopBF1 is recognized by HSP90 as a host client (PubMed:31522888). As a result, HopBF1 phosphorylates HSP90, leading to the inactivation of the HSP90 ATPase activity and chaperone function (PubMed:31522888). In vitro, can phosphorylate the recombinant yeast HSP82 (HSP90) and human HSP 90-beta on Ser-108 (PubMed:31522888).
