Represses lin-29 during late larval stages, which prevents terminal differentiation of hypodermal seam cells and promotes their division (PubMed:10882102). Involved in post-transcriptional gene regulation, uses two independent pathways (PubMed:28157501). Has direct and specific RNA-binding activity and, depending on the location (5'UTR or 3'UTR) of the target site, triggers either mRNA decay or repression of translation (PubMed:28111013, PubMed:30910805).
