This domain is found in the RlmG from E.coli and related proteins. RlmG is a specific AdoMet-dependent methyltransferase (MTase) responsible for N2-methylation of G1835 in 23S rRNA [1]. The methylated G1835 is located at the 50S side of intersubunit bridge B2, which is a functionally very important region of the ribosome. RlmG contains two homologous domains arranged in tandem. The N-terminal domain, represented by this entry, is involved in the recognition and binding of the target G1835 and its surrounding nucleotides [2].
