UniProtKB description:  Part of the sulfoquinovose monooxygenase (sulfo-SMO) pathway, a D-sulfoquinovose degradation pathway that enables the complete utilization of all carbons within sulfoquinovose (SQ) with concomitant production of inorganic sulfite (PubMed:35074914). Catalyzes the oxidative desulfurization of sulfoquinovose to sulfite and 6-dehydro-D-glucose (PubMed:35074914). Is highly specific for sulfoquinovose and cannot use sulfoquinovosyl glycerol (PubMed:35074914). FMNH(2) is provided by the FMN reductase SmoA (PubMed:35074914).
