Find Structures Using the Protein Symmetry Browser

10/29

RCSB PDB's Browse Database feature explores the PDB archive using different hierarchical trees. An option to browse structures based on protein symmetry has been added.

Select the Protein Symmetry tab from the Browse Database interface to navigate through the global and local symmetry and pseudosymmetry hierarchy, view the number of associated PDB structures, and access the related entries.

The browser opens up the top level in the hierarchy. Clicking on the arrow/folder icons expands the respective nodes. Clicking on the name of the node will retrieve all PDB entries associated with that type of symmetry.

Protein symmetry is calculated for all protein complexes in the PDB, and updated weekly. A detailed description of protein symmetry in the PDB is available.

Other Browse options include GO Terms, Enzyme Classification, Transporter Classification, Source Organism, Genome Location, MeSH terms, SCOP, CATH, ATC, and Transporter Classification.
